Project

Hygrade Foods in Wiltshire is a supplier of meat products to food supermarket chain Waitrose. Polydeck were instructed to install 3000m² of resin floors in their new facility. This included 400m² of Elastomeric resin comfort floor. The design was commissioned by Hygrade and installed by a Dutch artist. The project at Hygrade also involved the installation of 2000m² of heavy duty polyurethane resin floor screed, installed in the manufacturing facility and 600m² of a flow applied smooth epoxy resin floor topping, installed in the engineering workshops.

Challenge

The requirement was for a hygienic, chemical and slip resistant floor screed in the process areas and a durable. Impact-resistant floor finish in the engineering workshops. A bright, attractive floor finish, which would be soft underfoot and easy to clean was needed for the corridors.

Solution

• Solution 1: Heavy Duty Polyurethane Resin Floor Screed installed at 6–9mm thickness; Its profiled finish minimises slips and accidents in the workplace. The resin screed is impervious, can be cleaned to the same standard as stainless steel and will resist damage from cleaning and process chemicals.
• Solution 2: The resin floor topping is a 1mm, high-gloss, light-reflective, solvent-free Epoxy Self Smoothing Finish which will resist oils, greases and impact. The flooring reduces noise and enables the surface to be easily cleaned.
• Solution 3: The Flexible comfort flooring system is decorative, polyurethane-based flooring system with a UV light-resistant smooth surface. The system is highly elastic and combines impact sound insulation properties with the maximum level of comfort underfoot.

The client’s expectations met specific criteria in the three floor zones. The floors have been installed to a high standard, with unique designs to provide individuality in the corridors and development kitchens.
