Project
Polydeck Resins was appointed by SAPA to apply an anti-slip long lasting coating to 22,000m² of aluminium decks that made up the modular seating stands at the Olympic Stadium to become the new West Ham football stadium. The brief was to apply a system that would carry a 10 year warranty.
Challenge
Our team had a 6-week period to coat the majority of these decks to achieve a revised programme so the Rugby World Cup games could be played at the stadium, we had to apply the system in our temperature controlled warehouse in Swindon to enable the programme to be met.
Solution
A flexible Polyurethane system was applied using a metal primer and a Polyaspartic topcoat to allow the topping to be heard wearing and easy to clean, both very essential for this installation.
Polydeck had a team of 20 men on the contact for 6 weeks working around the clock to meet the dealing.
