Polydeck were awarded the contract to install 4000m² of hygienic, heavy duty, impact resistant floor, which withstands attack from organic acids.
Project and challenge
Thatchers Cider, a family run business based in North Somerset, has been producing cider since 1904. Continued growth means that they now press over 40,000 tonnes of fruit per year to satisfy demand, so they needed a substantial new filling plant, with a high-quality flooring system able to withstand the attack of organic acids, potential impact and abrasion with fork-truck traffic. This needed to be achieved with the hygienic environment required to maintain the excellent reputation and brand strength associated with Thatchers Cider.
Solution
Thatchers Cider selected AltroCrete PU Excel to provide this tough durable and hygienic finish. AltroCrete PU Excel is a 5-9mm textured floor finish for heavy duty areas or potential spillage and a wide temperature range (-40ºC to +120ºC at 8mm+).
This system offers the required level of resistance to impact or abrasion and to a wide range of chemicals including organic acids found in foodstuffs.
It is available in standard-cure or fast-track options for food and drink production areas and heavy industrial applications.
